Introducing CNaught's MCP Server

Managing climate data and making informed sustainability decisions often requires switching between multiple platforms and manually compiling information. Whether you're calculating emissions for a new project, reviewing your carbon credit portfolio, or preparing impact reports, the process can be time-consuming.

That's why we're excited to launch CNaught's Model Context Protocol (MCP) server - bringing your carbon credit data directly into AI tools like Claude, Cursor, and Windsurf. Now you can access your CNaught data, run emissions calculations, and create impact reports without ever leaving your AI workspace.

What's New:

🤖 AI-Native Integration: Connect CNaught directly to Claude (web, desktop, and API), Cursor, Windsurf, and other MCP-compatible AI tools

📊 Complete Data Access: View orders, external purchases, portfolios, projects, and impact metrics directly through natural language queries

🧮 Built-in Calculations: Run emissions estimates using our proven calculators for flights, shipping, office space, and transportation

🔒 Secure & Simple: Centrally hosted with secure authentication, no need to manage local servers or API keys

How It Works:

With the CNaught MCP server, you can now ask your AI assistant questions like:

  • "Show me my organization's total carbon credits purchased this year"
  • "Calculate emissions for a 2,500 mile flight and get a quote to offset it"
  • "What projects are we supporting through our carbon credit purchases?"
  • "Create a summary report of our 2025 purchases, with visualizations broken down by project category"

The MCP server provides access to all your CNaught data and functionality:

  • List and view detailed information about your orders and external purchases
  • Browse available carbon credit portfolios and get project details
  • Search for specific climate projects by name or registry ID
  • Run emissions calculations for air freight, flights, ground transportation, shipping, office space, and rail travel
  • Get instant quotes for carbon credit purchases
  • View comprehensive impact metrics and supported projects across all your organizations

Getting Started:

Claude

Team, Enterprise (Claude.ai)

First, an admin needs to enable it for your Claude organization

  • Navigate to Settings in the sidebar
  • Click on Integrations
  • Select Organization Integrations in the tab switcher on top right
  • Scroll to bottom of the list and click Add Integration
  • In the prompt enter:
    • Integration name: CNaught
    • Integration URL: https://mcp.cnaught.com/api/mcp

As a user (once your admin has enabled it for your organization):

  • Navigate to Settings in the sidebar
  • Click on Integrations
  • Select Your Integrations in the tab switcher on top right
  • There should be a CNaught entry with a Connect button. Click it and follow the flow (logging into CNaught if needed).

Max, Pro (Claude.ai)

  • Navigate to Settings in the sidebar
  • Scroll to Integrations at the bottom and click Add integration
  • In the prompt enter:
    • Integration name: CNaught
    • Integration URL: https://mcp.cnaught.com/api/mcp
  • Click add and follow the flow (may need to login to CNaught).

Free Plan (Claude Desktop only)

  • Open the MCP configuration file
    • ~/Library/Application Support/Claude/claude_desktop_config.json on Mac
    • %APPDATA%\Claude\claude_desktop_config.json on Windows
  • Add the following (if you already have this file with mcpServers section, then just add the cnaught entry to the list)
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "cnaught": {
      "command": "npx",
      "args": [
          "-y",
          "mcp-remote",
          "https://mcp.cnaught.com/api/mcp"
      ]
    }
  }
}
  • Restart the Claude desktop app

Once you’ve connected your CNaught account, feel free to start chatting. You'll just need to approve each call the first time it connects - after that, the connection will remain active.

Other AI Tools

  • If they support remote MCP servers, add https://mcp.cnaught.com/api/mcp as a remote server
  • Otherwise, follow instructions to add a local MCP server using the mcp-remote module as in the Claude Desktop section

Why This Matters

As AI becomes increasingly integrated into business workflows, having your climate data accessible where you're already working eliminates friction and enables faster decision-making. Whether you're a sustainability professional analyzing your portfolio, a developer calculating emissions for your application, or an executive preparing for stakeholder meetings, you can now seamlessly incorporate your climate data into your AI-powered workflows.

The MCP server follows the authenticated remote MCP specification, ensuring your data remains secure while providing the flexibility to work across multiple organizations if you manage climate initiatives for different entities.
