We’re proud to share that CNaught has received the Climate Label from The Change Climate Project, a certification that recognizes companies taking fast, credible climate action. The label signifies that a company has met rigorous, standardized requirements for GHG emissions measurement, reduction, disclosure, and investment in climate solutions.
At CNaught, we’re proud to be among peers like REI, Vuori, and Allbirds, that are embedding climate leadership into their operations. Just as importantly, we’re committed to signaling that effort clearly and transparently, and the Climate Label makes that possible.
We chose to pursue the Climate Label because its approach aligns with what we believe is most effective: reducing emissions first, then addressing what remains with high-quality carbon credits. Their “money-for-ton” and mitigation hierarchy framework mirrors the best available science and reinforces the same principles we advocate every day.
Earning the Climate Label means meeting a high standard. Certified companies must measure and publicly disclose their greenhouse gas emissions, take concrete steps to reduce them, and use high-integrity carbon credits to address any remaining footprint. The process is grounded in rigorous, science-based guidance, including the Oxford Offsetting Principles, standards we also follow and trust.
At CNaught, we believe that carbon credit purchases should be part of a broader sustainability strategy. Our full public profile is available on the Climate Label platform, where we share detailed information about our emissions, credit purchases, and project selection methodology.
1. Measure Transparently
We conducted a full GHG inventory covering Scope 1, Scope 2, and relevant Scope 3 emissions, such as business travel and procurement.
2. Reduce Where Possible
As a small tech company, we don’t own our office buildings or produce physical goods. Initially it was difficult to identify areas we could reduce our emissions, but accounting helped us identify high-leverage areas we could cut back:
These small operational choices add up, and they send a strong internal message that climate responsibility applies to everyone, regardless of scale.
3. Offset with Integrity
For the emissions we can’t eliminate today, we offset through our own Climate Label portfolio. This portfolio features a mix of high-quality technology-based reduction, nature-based reduction, and nature-based removal projects. All credits have gone through our rigorous due diligence process, are highly rated by at least one third-party ratings agency and meet the standards recommended by the Climate Label. We were also able to offset 100% of our remaining emissions while meeting our Climate Transition Budget, due to the portfolio pricing.
With increasing scrutiny regarding corporate climate claims, there’s an urgent need for credible, independently verified signals that a company is walking the talk. The Climate Label does exactly that. It provides consumers, partners, and employees with a credible, evidence-based indication that a company is taking climate action seriously.
We’re excited about what the Climate Label represents, and what it helps us achieve:
